Student Support Services

UB’s Student Support Services team provides students with comprehensive academic support. Student Support Services (SSS) is a federal TRiO Program sponsored and funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The University at Buffalo received its first SSS grant award in 1979.

SSS is a part of the Center for Academic Development (CADS). If you qualify for the SSS program you will be assigned an advisor to chart academic and professional goals and overcome obstacles. As a member of SSS you may participate in:

• CADS Tutorial Lab on the ground floor of the Capen Library
• Workshops on academic, career, and personal topics
• Cultural events with other SSS students such as dance performances, theatre, concerts, museums, and sporting events. As with all services, cultural events are free to SSS students!
• Borrow laptop computers for 4 weeks at a time (usually longer)
• Work with the Peer Mentoring Program and Public Service Internship Program
• Prep for Graduate and Professional School including individualized research into your options, assistance writing your personal statement, getting letters of recommendation, visits to grad/professional schools in other cities, and test prep materials for loan (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, PCAT, etc.)
• Apply for SSS grant aid
